Eighties pop star Sonia is promising a “trip down memory lane” when she performs as part of a bumper show celebrating the decade at a Coventry nightclub.

Sonia will be joined on stage by fellow chart toppers of the decade Doctor and The Medics and Hazell Dean for the upcoming ‘That’s So 80s’ gig at Rialto Reborn on Saturday, September 2.

The trio will be performing all their hits at the one-off show which aims to capture the atmosphere of the 1980s.

Launched by the music producing trio Stock Aitken Waterman, Sonia shot to fame in 1989 with her Number 1 hit ‘You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You’ and went on to have 11 UK Top 30 hits.

Fans can also look forward to hearing Doctor and The Medics play their chart-topping hit ‘Spirit in the Sky’, which has sold 24 Million copies worldwide and was Number 1 in 23 countries.

Hazell Dean will get everyone on their feet with her dance classics, including performing tracks like ‘Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go)’and ‘Searchin (I Gotta Find a Man)’ live on stage.

Sonia wants to celebrate everything that was great about the 1980s on the night and is looking forward to seeing everyone dressed in the styles of decade in Coventry.

She said: “It’s going to be a fab, complete 80s night. We’re hoping that everyone comes dressed up and joins in with the massive disco.

“It’s going to be a real rollercoaster, a total trip down memory lane. Obviously, a lot of us were teenagers back then and these songs take you back to where you were in the 80s.

“The music, the fashion, it was a decade of just fantastic pop songs. The music has stood the test of time, people of all ages love the sounds of the 80s.

“To this day everyone knows every lyric and it makes you feel so proud, I’ve been doing this now for 30 years and I’m still as busy as ever and still loving it.”

The event is being promoted by Coventry-based Showtime Promotions, who have helped to assemble the star trio for the 80s night.

“Hazell is a good friend of mine. I’ve seen her and Doctor and The Medics play many times, they are absolute class acts, they’ll be singing all the hits and I know that ‘Spirit in the Sky’ always goes down a storm,” added Sonia.

Doors open at Rialto Reborn on Saturday, September 2 from 7.30pm. Advanced tickets for That’s So 80s cost £20 and are available from www.showtimelive.co.uk
